Community Recognition Awards Form

The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen (HBM) Community Recognition Awards are presented every other year to recognize and celebrate a deserving individual, business, organization, or group of persons who have made a significant contribution to the community.  Through their actions they have had a positive effect on their fellow citizens, or, an individual organization, or group of persons helping to make HBM Township a great place to live, work, and/or conduct business.

Deadline for nominations is: 4:30 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025

Nomination Categories

Sporting Excellence - Any team or individual who has won a provincial, national, or international sporting event.

Acts of Heroism - An individual who has displayed bravery in the face of personal risk, injury or death at an incident that took place either in Havelock-Bemont-Methuen or was to the benefit of a Havelock-Belmont-Methuen resident and which action did not occur while the individual was acting in his/her professional capacity while on duty.

Business of the Year - Any new or established business within HBM Township who demonstrated excellence in their industry, exceptional product quality/service, and strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Outstanding Youth of the Year - Any person aged 19 or younger who have demonstrated exceptional community involvement or volunteerism within HBM Township.

Volunteer of the Year - Any individual who has demonstrated exemplary community involvement or volunteerism within Havelock-Belmont-Methuen (HBM) Township within last 24-months.

Volunteer Group of the Year - Any group who has demonstrated exemplary community involvement or volunteerism within Havelock-Belmont-Methuen (HBM) Township within last 24-months.

Community Leader of the Year - Any individual within HBM Township recognized for their community spirit, demonstrated leadership, and consistent service in the name of progress and benefit to community.

Miz Watson Lifetime Achievement Award - Any individual within HBM Township recognized for their community spirit, demonstrated leadership, and lifetime service to others, in the name of progress and benefit to community.

Reasons for Nomination - Please provide particulars to support your nomination by outlining the contributions and achievements of the individual, business, organization, or groups of persons. 

Please provide a minimum of 150 words of accurate information as the information provided will be used to develop a “biography” (if nomination is successful) and will be read during the presentation of the Award at the Recognition Awards Ceremony. (If additional space is required, please attach a separate sheet to this form.)

Reasons for Nomination Continued - Please detail the actions of this individual, business, organization, or groups of persons that have had a positive effect on their fellow citizens or how they have helped to make their community a better place to live, work, and/or conduct business.

We will include this information as part of a “biography” (if nomination is successful), which will be read during the presentation of the Award at the Recognition Awards Ceremony. (If additional space is required, please attach a separate sheet to this form.)

Personal information contained on this form is collected under the authority of Section 29(2) of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.56 as amended and will be used for purposes of the selection of recipients for the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Community Recognition Awards Program.
